I am a philosopher and sociologist of science with an interest in marine systems. My work revolves around topics related to coral reefs, regeneration, ecological change, and how the value attributed to living entities shapes scientific research. I completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter, followed by a Master’s and PhD funded by an ESRC 1+3 Scholarship. After my PhD I visited the Bertrand Lab, a marine microbial lab at Dalhousie University (Canada), as an Ocean Frontier Institute visiting fellow. Whilst there I was looking at the concepts underpinning current biogeochemical research, particularly ‘metabolism’ . Following this I undertook a postdoc at the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research, focused on the interaction of values, knowledge production and ecological change in the ocean.
