Dr. Paul Trauttmansdorff

Ethical Data Initiative

Meine ersten Hochschulstudien schloss ich in den Fächern Philosophie (BA) an der Universität Wien und Sozioökonomie (BSc) an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien ab. Danach studierte ich Politische Soziologie (MSc) an der London School of Economics and Political Science. Zurück in Wien, begann ich schließlich als Stipendiat der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften mein Doktoratsstudium in Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung am Institut der Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung der Universität Wien (betreut durch Ulrike Felt). Mein Forschungsschwerpunkt lag hierbei auf den Zukunftsvisionen von Grenzen und der Digitalisierung der Migrations-Governance in Europa. Im Laufe meines Doktorats erhielt ich u.a. das Marietta-Blau-Stipendium der Österreichischen Agentur für Bildung und Internationalisierung.

Nach meiner Promotion (2022) arbeitete ich als Postdoc am Department für Philosophie und Kommunikationswissenschaften der Universität Bologna, wo ich am ERC StG Projekt „Processing Citizenship – Digital registration of migrants as co-production of citizens, territory and Europe“ (PI: Annalisa Pelizza) mitwirkte. Von Oktober 2023 bis März 2024 war ich Fellow der European New School of Digital Studies (ENS) der Europa-Universität Viadrina und anschließend als Postdoc-Mitarbeiter am ENS Lehrstuhl Sociology of Technology tätig.

Seit Oktober 2024 forsche und lehre ich am Lehrstuhl für Philosophie und Geschichte der Wissenschaft und Technik (Prof. Sabina Leonelli) und bin Fellow der Ethical Data Initiative.

  • The Nutzung von Biometrie in verschiedenen Bereichen, sowie deren weiterreichenden sozialen, politischen und ethischen Folgen.
