Cansu Güner is a postdoctoral researcher in the Science and Technology Policy Research Group. She previously earned her Master's degree in International Relations from Koç University in 2013 and completed her doctoral degree at the Technical University of Munich, Department of Science, Technology, and Society, in December 2023.
With a PhD in Science and Technology Studies, her research interests focus on advancing evidence-based organizational change in governance, decision-making, and innovation. Her work examines how informal decision-making processes shape organizational outcomes, particularly in high-stakes domains such as innovation, hiring, promotion, and funding, where informal governance plays a central role.
Her doctoral research explores how gender and entrepreneurship co-shape one another, through a comparison of entrepreneurial cultures in Silicon Valley and Munich. She is currently working on a postdoctoral project that designs, implements, and evaluates gender-awareness training for members of hiring, tenure, and funding committees, with the goal of strengthening consistent and evidence-informed decision-making.
Cansu is affiliated with the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society (CSTMS) at UC Berkeley, the STS Hub at San Francisco State University, and the Joachim Herz Stiftung.
