Anwesha Borthakur has joined TUM after her Humboldt Fellowship at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC). Trained in environmental science and science policy, she has been engaged in interdisciplinary research focusing on electronic (E-waste) and textile waste governance in India, South Africa, and the European Union. She particularly analyzed the design of E-waste/textile waste policies in India and South Africa and evaluated why the local traits that are centered around reuse and recycling are absent from the countries’ policymaking. She was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at KU Leuven, Belgium and a Landhaus Fellow at the RCC. Prior to that, she completed her PhD in science policy from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. With her current project at TUM, she is exploring the changing lifeways in conditions of climate change in India’s Western Himalaya.
