Science and Technology Policy 

Sophia Lukas completed her Master’s degree in Sociology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, where she specialized in the construction of social categories of difference, sociology of the body, and qualitative social research. Since 2026, she is a doctoral researcher in the Research Group Science and Technology Policy at the STS Department of the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology.

Her research focuses on knowledge production in dominant and alternative epistemic cultures, particularly with regard to power relations and social inequality. In this context, she primarily examines issues of health, biomedicalization, and biopolitical interventions.

Previously, Sophia Lukas worked as a research associate and student research assistant at the Chair of General Sociology and Gender Studies at the Institute of Sociology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. As a student research assistant, she worked for the research project “Co-Parenting – Transformations of the Normal?” of the Bavarian research network ForFamily.
